Susan Speigel Architect Inc., (SSA) is a multi-disciplinary design firm of 17 people, with over 3 decades experience in the industry. We work in architecture, landscape and urban design, collaborating at multiple scales with non-profit organizations, the public housing sector and private residential clients. Our projects range from re-envisioning the public realm for housing communities through to much larger scaled urban renewal initiatives. We are a team of dedicated professionals with a passion for design and a wealth of knowledge grounded in experience. Our broad multidisciplinary approach to projects includes architecture, urbanism, community engagement, sustainability, socially and financially responsible development.

SSA leads a dynamic team of consultants, many of whom have collaborated on dozens of projects, poised to reach beyond the traditional disciplinary boundaries of architecture to achieve meaningful results for our clients and the wider communities they call home.

We are proud to have worked with numerous communities throughout Ontario, both urban and rural, contributing our architectural experience and expertise to a series of community-building projects. At SSA, we work to reconceive the role of architects as facilitators and enablers, as part of a truly collaborative, non-hierarchical approach to design. Our work has involved extensive community consultations and collaborations, often with marginalized communities, touching on every aspect of participatory urban planning, architecture and place making. We look for opportunities to reconsider the status quo, to interrogate how people live and to create lasting positive change that is socially inclusive and equitable, environmentally sustainable and economically viable.
