Hydro Park
A decommissioned hydro transfer station as an opportunity for an architectural intervention to revitalize an otherwise desolate suburban island. The design re-identified the derelict site as a modern ruin and kept the structure as a monument for a forgotten infrastructural past. Located across from a library the site possessed a natural affinity for a social connection where a new axis bridging positive community spaces. Removing the roof, punching archways through walls and extending steel column grid demarcating a new spatial connection within the urban fabric. Re-imagining the potential of an underused space by emphasizing the past with a novel insertion connecting two discreet moments.
